Man’s Voice: My wife’s been coming since she was four, for well over forty years. We come with our kids every year. Every year is different, but it’s Fellini Christmas.Every year, the town of Woodstock, NY, celebrates Christmas eve on its Village Green. I’m Jim Metzner and this is the Pulse of the Planet.Music: Brass Ensemble plays Good King Wenceslas Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen, kids and fun people, welcome to the Village Green of Woodstock, for the arrival of –who? Audience: Santa The highlight of the event is a visit from Santa Claus, who manages to come in a different conveyance every year, and part of the fun is to see if you can guess how he’s going to arrive this year.Man’s Voice: Well, every year is different. Over fifty something years, we’ve never had the same thing, except once or twice. We always keep it a secret. It’s always been that way. We try to keep it hushed up. Cause we try to surprise people ..ambience: Jingle Bells sung by crowd Man’s voice: Which is the best Santa Claus thing here? When they did the dove of peace, under the guitar neck that was the best one. They brought the fire truck in and parked it under here and they lit it up like the guitar neck and they flew the dove of peace out from behind the store on the crane and landed down like the Woodstock symbol. And then Santa Claus jumped out and played the guitar. I always describe Woodstock Christmas when Santa comes to the Square, like Fellini Christmas. I think we’ve got Santa on a train! Santa on a train!ambience: Horn toot from fire engineBefore leaving Woodstock, Santa took a moment to share this with us.Santa: It’s an incredible honor to come to this great little town this is the most famous small town in the world.
